Happy New Year...if You Choose It

Happy New Year! What an exciting time it is in the seasons of our lives, when we are standing at edge of a New Year, peering into the future, its fresh canvas of possibilities awaiting us to paint our futures with our highest purpose, culling forth our imagination and deepest convictions to do so. There is a palpable energy in the air which supports our innate knowing that we have the potential to manifest all that we desire to create.

The great news is this ‘atmospheric’ positivity is available not only at the beginning of the year, but at every moment we choose to see ourselves accurately, as we truly have been created, with unlimited power to manifest the life we desire. Our conscious awareness and management of this life energy vitalizes our vision, invigorating it in our minds so that it remains compelling to us, ensuring that we continue to move in the direction of our dreams.

So if this is true, why do so many of our well intentioned resolutions die silent deaths, often before we even flip the calendar to February? What is it that keeps so many people disconnected from their power, struggling to maintain and survive rather than to master and thrive in their lives?

I believe there are four primary obstacles that interfere to wholeheartedly committing to living our lives on purpose:

  1. Using emotional detachment as a means of protecting ourselves from disappointment.  Unfortunately, as a self fulfilling prophecy, the only things this detachment guarantees is lack of commitment which ultimately leads to the disappointment we were motivated to avoid.  Choose instead to commit to caring and master the art of detached involvement!

  2. Choosing goals that sound good but that are not authentically our own.
They are out of alignment with our overarching purpose.  Such misalignment forces the energy required for our objectives to be supplied by willpower rather than inspiration, a substitution of power source that lacks sufficient propulsion to move us through obstacles that will be a natural part of our journey.  Choose instead to learn to center yourself and connect with your authenticity so you can live the life you have been called to live!

  3. Declaring vague resolutions without clarifying how we plan to achieve them. Without an effective strategy, we become frustrated by our lack of progress and soon degenerate to habitual patterns that will forever yield the very outcomes we are “motivated” to change.  Choose instead to invest the effort up front to create a clear and realistic path that will culminate in your success!

  4. Seeing the world from a victim and/or conflict perspective.  Our expectation is that we will not succeed and that whatever we do accomplish can only be attained through struggle.  Since we create our experience of reality, this negative energy manifests exactly what we expect.  Choose instead to know that you live in a safe and abundant world where everything is possible and your potential is unlimited!

These obstacles need not keep you from manifesting your dreams.  Instead, choose to live passionately, connected to your life purpose, compelled to realize the greatest vision of your life, joyfully harnessing your greatest gifts.  When confronted by such inner conviction, any limiting beliefs that plague our consciousness collapse, they’re absolutely neutralized, losing all of their power to sabotage your success or limit your access to an effortless, high performance life.
